“Tenuta” is Italian for “Estate.” The Col Solare Tenuta Cabernet Sauvignon represents the most distinct and expressive lots that we craft from Washington’s Red Mountain AVA.
VINTAGE
The 2022 growing season on Red Mountain was nothing short of exceptional. Despite the cool, wet spring that delayed fruit development, the unexpectedly warm temperatures in October allowed for additional hang time and full flavor development. The cool nights during this period helped preserve the crisp, natural acidity of the grapes, contributing to the exceptional quality of the vintage.
VINEYARD
100% Quintessence Vineyard.
WINEMAKING
Harvest occurred on September 17th. The grapes were gently crushed, and gravity fed into a small stainless-steel, temperature-controlled tanks. Following a three-day cold soak, daily pump overs were performed to achieve the desired flavors and extraction. After secondary fermentation, the wines were racked to 100% new French oak, and aged for 20 months prior to bottling.
The 2022 Tenuta Cabernet Sauvignon showcases bold aromas of black currant, thyme, and white pepper. On the palate, it provides a rich mouthfeel with hints of graphite and toffee, leading to a lingering, savory finish.
