Col Solare
Cabernet Sauvignon
A Washington Icon of Italian Heritage
Col Solare was established in the Red Mountain AVA with the 1995 vintage upon a belief in bold, patient, and innovative winemaking techniques that few in the world have mastered. Many years later, we enjoy the fruits of a continuation of Italian tradition and an emblem of Red Mountain, the shining hill nestled deep in the heart of Washington’s wine country.
Vintage
2021 was a very warm growing season which resulted in intensely concentrated flavors in the wines. Our typical cool nights during harvest helped us retain the wonderful natural acidity Washington is known for. The season produced red wines dark in color and dense in concentration and white wines with varietal character and bright vibrancy.
Vineyards
Sourced from the following vineyards in Red Mountain: Quintessence Vineyard (82%), Col Solare Estate (15%), and Shaw 32 Vineyard (3%).
Winemaking Notes
Harvest began on September 15th. The grapes were gently crushed, and gravity fed into a small stainless-steel, temperature-controlled tanks. Following a three-day cold soak, daily pump overs were performed to achieve the desired flavors and extraction. After secondary fermentation, the wines were racked to 100% new French oak, and aged for 20 months prior to bottling.
