Vintage
The 2022 growing season on Red Mountain was nothing short of exceptional. Despite the cool, wet spring that delayed fruit development, the unexpectedly warm temperatures in October allowed for additional hang time and full flavor development. The cool nights during this period helped preserve the crisp, natural acidity of the grapes, contributing to the exceptional quality of the vintage.
Vineyard
Red Mountain is the collection of gently rolling hills of Washington State’s premier viticultural area that have been shaped by ancient fl oodwaters and named for the flame-colored flowers that grow wild beyond the vineyards on these high desert slopes. Fruit from this terroir produces succinct and powerful Bordeaux blends: elegant and strong, with a richness that lingers. The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon comes five select blocks from the Quintessence Vineyard: QTCS04, QTCS24, QTCS25, QTCS51 and QTCF19. These were each harvested at optimal ripeness between October 8 – November 2.
Winemaking
Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with pump-overs and délestage, and the wine was aged 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels.
